During the incident she was working with her mother at 5th floor of the building in a garment-factory. Her mother died but she was rescued after 24 hours.The Rana Plaza building collapsed on 24 April 2013, killing 1138 workers in the world's worst garment factory disaster.

She was working on the 7th floor while her husband, Jewel, was working on the 2nd floor in a garment factory. Jewel was among the 1134 people who lost their lives in what is now known as the deadliest garment factory accident in history.
